Project Location: Rural Tanzania
In 2012, Solar Liberty Foundation partnered with African Malaika, a fellow non-profit that supports orphanages in Africa, to equip an orphanage in a remote Tanzanian village with a solar thermal system. The system provides the children and staff with hot water for showers, baths, laundry, and dishes. The system is helping to increase sanitation and improve quality of life at the orphanage.
Along with the solar thermal system, Solar Liberty Foundation sent two solar cookers to orphanages in Arusha and Lindi. A fuel-free stove not only eliminates indoor air pollution, but also simplifies the meal preparation process. Additionally, they enable water pasteurization. In short, solar cookers help to ensure optimal care of the children.
